In this article, we'll take a closer look at how you can setup and manage your metric based objectives with clear measurable outcomes

Create Objectives with Clear Measurable Outcomes

Metric based outcomes are most similar to the conventional OKR system and follows mostly the same structure

  • Objective > holistic, non-measurable statement

    • Target > clear measurable figure you want to achieve

      • Supporting activities > activities that will help you get there

Types of Metric Based Goals You Can Add

When creating a target, you can choose one of 3 possible target types:

  • Currency

  • Number

  • Percentage

Managing Targets & Progress

Each target you create, need to have a clear measurable figure that you are setting out to achieve. Unlike the main Objective that is a non-measurable statement of the holistic outcome you're looking to achieve

Target Supporting Activities

For each target you create, you can add supporting activities. This can consist of:

  • Research

  • Ideas & Hypothesis

  • Experiments

These supporting activities that you link to the target, should aid you in reaching the outcome you've set out to achieve

Manage Your Target Progress

Target progress is managed manually. In order to keep your targets up to date, you will need to visit the Objective, open the individual target and update your progress. You will have a few different options to choose from when updating your targets:

  • Increased by: Adds the entered number to your existing progress

  • Decreased by: Removes the entered number from your existing progress

  • Updated to: Replaces your entire total with the new entered number

Monitor Objective Activity

We keep a detailed report of all the actions and events that have taken place on each Objective. To checkout the events, you can simply open the Objective and access the Activity Timeline to see a detailed breakdown of events

Tracking Overall Objective Progress

Aside from tracking the progress of your individual targets, you can also track the events and actions that have happened on each of your targets. You can do this by visiting the Objectives, opening a target and then selecting Activity Timeline
