Effy AI can turn recognition posted in Slack into Kudos automatically. When you add Effy to a Slack channel where your team celebrates each other (for example, a #celebrations or #kudos channel), Effy scans it and imports qualifying shout-outs as Kudos — including celebrations from the last 6 months — so you don't have to add them by hand.
Setting it up
Connect Slack to Effy, if you haven't already — see Slack Integration Setup.
In Slack, open your celebrations channel, type / and choose Add apps to this channel, then add the Effy AI app.
That's it. Within a few hours, Effy fetches celebrations from the channel — including the last 6 months of messages — and imports the ones that qualify as Kudos.
How it works
Effy reads messages in the connected celebrations channel and imports the ones that qualify as recognition. A message becomes a Kudos when all of these are true:
It @mentions the person being recognized — a kudos has to name a recipient.
It's posted by a real person who is an active Effy user, whose Slack email matches their Effy profile (not a bot or automated integration).
The @mentioned recipient is also a matched Effy user.
The message reads as a genuine recognition — Effy uses an AI check to confirm it's a kudos rather than an unrelated message.
Why a message might not be imported
If a message in the channel didn't become a Kudos, it's usually one of these:
No @mention — no one was tagged, so there's no recipient.
Sender not matched — the person who posted isn't a matchable Effy user (not in the workspace, inactive, or their Slack email doesn't match their Effy email). This is the most common and most fixable reason — usually just an email mismatch.
Recipient not matched — the tagged person couldn't be matched to an Effy user.
Bot or system message — posted by a bot or integration, or an automatic event such as someone joining the channel.
Not a recognition — the message was tagged and from a valid user, but the AI judged it wasn't actually a kudos.
Tips to make sure your kudos are captured
Always @mention the person you're recognizing.
Post from the Slack account whose email matches your Effy profile.
Make sure both you and the person you're recognizing are active users in Effy.
Write it as a real recognition — what they did and why it mattered — rather than just an emoji or a one-word reply.
Privacy
Effy stores only a message identifier and the result of the kudos check — never the message text. The original wording stays in Slack.
A kudos is missing — what can I do?
First check the requirements above (an @mention, a matched sender and recipient, and a genuine recognition). The AI check isn't perfect and can occasionally miss a real kudos, so if you're sure a message should have been captured, message us in the in-app chat and we can take a look or re-run the import.
