Resources, Activities and Events are the backbone that make up Eleanor – working together these 3 categories help us manage bookings, understand how your guests work and help ensure that they have the best experiences whilst staying at your resort.

But what are Resources, Activities and Events, and why are they important?

Resources are the physical things that are required for an activity (bookable experience) to happen. Examples of resources would be seats in a restaurant, spa therapists, or kayaks at a water sports centre. They are limiting factors, and without them, an activity wouldn’t be possible. Not all Activities require a resource to be bookable, but a resource does need to be connected to an Activity to be bookable.

Activities are the things that guests can actually do – the things they want to book. Activites can have a resource attached to them (but don’t have to), and 1 resource will often be linked to many activities.

This helps us prevent double bookings, where there may be “space” on an

Activity but no resource is free for the activity to take place. For example, a spa may offer 10 different massages but only have 3 therapists. As such only 3 massages can happen at a time, by connecting the massage activities to the therapist resource we are able to limit the number of messages to be booked to 3 at a time, even though there are potentially 10 available.

Events are simply the time slots that both Activities and Resources are available for. Such as the spa opening times. Both Activities and Resources require Events to be active in order for them to be booked. These events do not need to be the same, but for an Activity to be booked the Events of both the Resource and Activity need to overlap.
