Please note that if you are using Divi 4.5+, Extra 4.5+ or Divi Builder 4.5+ this article is no longer relevant. The Global Defaults Editor has been replaced by Global Presets and the new article can be found here.

With the new Global Defaults update, you will be able to set site-wide module defaults right inside the Divi Builder while designing a page. It's important to note that a global default value set on a module will apply on all modules of the same type on all your pages / posts, unless the module on that page / post already has a custom value set.

Accessing The Global Defaults Modal

When you open the settings modal of a module you will now have a new button with a globe icon located at the top right / top left of the modal. Clicking on this new button will open the Global Defaults modal where you can adjust all the module's design settings. To go back to the local settings modal, click on same button which should display a green curved arrow.

Overwriting Global Default Value

As you would expect, overwriting a global default value is as easy as adjusting the local value for that particular option.

Divi Builder Portability & Global Defaults

Exporting and importing layouts from one site to another is one of the most powerful and useful features in the Divi Builder. With Global Defaults, the Portability system gets even more powerful with the addition of two new options, Include Global Defaults and Apply To Exported / Imported Layout.

Include Global Defaults
Tick this option in the Portability modal before import / export to include the Global Defaults values.

Apply To Exported / Imported Layout.
This option is depended on the Include Global Defaults so it will only display if this option ticked. When you tick this, the global default values will apply locally on the layout and not globally. To apply the global default values from a layout globally (site-wide) make sure to not tick this option.

Update to the latest version and let us know what you think! ️️❤️

Stay tuned for more cool features coming your way!
