The Person Profile

Learn about the customizable person profiles we call Bolt Profiles.

Written by Michael Stephenson

Overview

The Element451 Bolt User Interface powers the Person Profile, available for every external user (contact) in your instance. The profile provides quick access to the user's information and acts as a customizable and dynamic information hub designed to streamline workflows and ensure swift and efficient profile data management.

Additionally, Element451 administrators can customize profile templates to suit their teams' needs.

Profile Templates

The information that appears on a person's profile is determined by one or more profile templates. Element451 provides various system templates, and administrators can choose to use them as is or create custom templates.

Element451 supports an unlimited number of profile templates that can be displayed dynamically based on different factors such as profile data, user characteristics, visibility groups, and more. It is important to note that since profiles are highly customizable, the location or visibility of certain information and visualizations may differ.

Parts of a Person Profile

The Person Profile has three sections—header, sidebar, and main. We'll cover each section in detail below:

1. Header

At the top of the profile is the header. You will always see the person's name and profile monogram (or profile image if the user uploads an image).

Just above the person's name, at the end of the breadcrumb menu, is the Profile Template icon. If you hover this icon, you'll get a help text that shows what Profile Template is currently visible.

This is helpful for troubleshooting template filters or other template configurations.

Other Information Included in the header:

  • Metadata

Below the user's name is the metadata. Administrators can opt to display nearly any person-scoped field here. While there is no technical limit, 5-10 fields of metadata are recommended to provide the best visual experience.

  • Call-to-Action (CTA) Buttons

Next are optional call-to-action (CTA) buttons. These provide quick access to the following actions:

    • Phone Call to Displayed Person (Cell)

    • Phone Call to Displayed Person (Home)

    • Email to Displayed Person

    • Open Conversations with Displayed Person

    • Add Task

    • Add Note

    • Unsubscribe

    • Run Workflow Rule

    • Send Communication (allows you to send a predetermined campaign email to the displayed user)

📙 Note: If enabled, CTAs may appear to the right of the name or below any metadata as determined by device and screen resolution.

2. Sidebar

The Sidebar is an optional component of a profile that can be pinned to the right or left of the main information display area.

Sidebar content is fully customizable. Administrators can display nearly any Element451 data field and choose how to group them. Most user-editable fields can be edited using in-line editing directly in the sidebar.

3. Main

The Main area is where administrators can curate collections of information cards representing data from various parts of Element451. Profile Cards are covered in the next section.

Each row of cards consists of three slots, with most cards available in single, double, or triple-width options. These widths can be mixed and matched when configuring Profile Templates.

Depending on the configuration of the profile template in use, you may see two features at the top of the Main Display Area:

  • Card Group Drop Down: If the profile uses card groups, you can select to view a single card group by selecting it from the dropdown. Selecting one of the card groups will hide the cards from all other groups.

  • Search: If the search option is enabled for the template in use, you can use it to search for a particular card by title. You can select one or more cards by selecting them from the select menu.

Profile Cards

Profile Cards are the building blocks of the Main area of a profile. Each card surfaces a specific type of data about the contact — their applications, recent activity, custom fields, and so on — and is configured by an admin in a profile template.

Cards come in single-, double-, or triple-width versions; wider versions often surface additional information or inline functionality. A card can also be collapsed to just its title row, acting as a shortcut to its related Bolt Sheet.

Element451 ships 40+ system cards covering common data points, plus the ability to build Custom Cards from person-scoped fields. For the full list of available cards and configuration details, see the article below.

Bolt Sheets

While not an area on the profile itself, Bolt Sheets are essential to the Bolt experience. You can access a related sheet by clicking the arrow in the title row of each card. Bolt Sheets allow you to view and edit the associated information on the sheet without losing the context of the person record you are working on.

Sheets are stackable, meaning you can drill several sheets deep and keep your context. For instance, you can click on a relationship record to view the parent profile data in a bolt sheet, then click a task related to that parent, which brings in a task sheet where you can complete the task without leaving the original student record.

Adding Profile Pictures

Profile pictures help your team quickly recognize students and add a personal touch to person profiles.

There are two ways to add a profile picture, depending on who’s uploading it.

Students: Uploading Their Own Profile Picture

Students can add or update their profile picture when they’re logged into an Application Site or Microsite.

  • Log into the Application Site or Microsite

  • Select Edit Profile

  • Upload a profile picture and save

Staff: Uploading a Profile Picture for a Student

Internal users can upload a profile picture directly from the person profile.

  • Open the person profile

  • Hover over the profile picture (or initials)

  • Select a photo from your device to upload

Note: Bulk profile picture uploads are not supported at this time

To delete a profile picture, hover over the existing photo on the person profile and select Remove.
