How ID scanning works
Hold your phone over the barcode on the back of your driver's license or state ID.
The in-app camera will automatically recognize the barcode and scan it.
You do not have to tap any buttons to get it to scan.
Helpful tips
Grant camera access
Make sure you've given Elevault access to your phone's camera.
If you can see the camera screen, you've likely done this!
Check for wear & tear
Make sure your barcode is not worn away or otherwise obstructed/damaged.
If the scanner cannot get a clear take of your full ID barcode, it will not be able to scan it.
Scan the correct barcode
Make sure you are scanning the large, main barcode across the top of the back of your ID.
You might consider covering any other smaller ones with your hand.
Try another angle
Hold your phone at different angles and distances from the barcode.
Try rotating your ID 90º so you're able to get a closer view within the camera's frame.
Try different lighting
If the room is too dark, the scanner could have trouble picking up your barcode.
Try moving to better lighting or tapping the ⚡️ flash icon to give a clearer view.
Check your camera lens
Make sure your phone's camera lens is not dirty, broken, or blocked.
