Roles and platforms

Updated this week

Our goal is to make gymnastics competitions accessible to everyone — from spectators and organizers to active participants — using nothing more than a mobile phone and an internet connection. For this reason, Elevien is available on both mobile platforms (Android and iOS) and as a web application for desktop and laptop use.

However, functionality is optimized differently depending on the platform and on the role you have within the app.

Audience role

If you want to follow a competition as a member of the audience — view live results, watch videos (if the organizer is recording), or browse past competition results — this is currently supported via the mobile app only. Watching results and videos is not available through the web app at this time.

The web app is optimized for competition management, while the mobile app is optimized for viewing competitions.

Organizers can set competitions as either public or private, which affects how you can access them:

  • Public competitions are visible to all Elevien users and can be found directly in the mobile app, both live and after completion.

  • Private competitions are accessible only to users who receive a direct link from the organizer.

If you know that a competition is being run on Elevien but cannot find it in the app, it is likely set to private. In that case, we recommend contacting the organizer to request the access link.

Gymnast role

Elevien allows organizers to open athlete registration directly within the app. Gymnasts can register themselves, or they can be registered by coaches or club officials.

If a competition is set to private, you will need a registration link provided by the organizer. Please note that the registration link and the competition viewing link are different.

After registering, gymnast lists may not be visible immediately. Depending on the organizer’s settings, lists can be displayed either:

  • after registration closes, or

  • after the administrator approves the registration.

If you are participating in a hybrid or online competition, you can record your routine directly in the Elevien mobile app using your phone’s camera. To do this:

  • you must be registered for the competition,

  • you must have a valid Elevien account,

  • your account must be linked to the correct phone number.

When recording is enabled, a camera icon will appear in the lower-right corner of the mobile app. If you do not see this icon, contact the organizer — the phone number on your account may be incorrect.

Organizers can also allow a coach to record routines on behalf of one or more gymnasts. This setup must be configured by the competition administrator.

Judge role

Judges can score competitions using either the mobile app or the web app.

In the mobile app, the judging workflow is automatically organized by subdivisions and rotations, based on the apparatus you are assigned to judge. If you do not see a gymnast you expect to judge, confirm with the competition administrator that:

  • the schedule is up to date, and

  • the schedule has been published.

Judging lists are generated from the published schedule. Gymnasts who are not assigned to a subdivision will appear at the end of the list under “Unscheduled.” Scrolling to the bottom of the list can help you locate missing athletes.

If needed, judges or administrators can adjust the start order directly on site, both on mobile and on the web app.

When judging via the web app, available filters allow you to:

  • sort by starting order,

  • filter by recorded / not recorded (useful for online or hybrid competitions),

  • filter by scored / not scored routines.

Admin role

Competition administrators have full access privileges on both the mobile and web platforms. At any time, they can:

  • add or remove gymnasts,

  • assign judges,

  • edit scores,

  • modify competition settings,

  • record and upload videos.

On the mobile app, score editing and video uploads are available through the individual performance screen.

In the web app, scores can be edited by opening the Edit Scores view on the Results page. In this view (and on the Results page), admins can delete videos but can’t upload them; video uploads are still supported only in the mobile app.
