The "Smoothing," control is a bit of the engine's secret sauce!

In a nutshell the smoothing controls how aggressively the reference engine applies its process. Lower smoothing values will be more subtle, while higher smoothing values will sound more aggressive. There is no right or wrong answer for smoothing, but generally, we've found that less is more (much like the whole process of audio mastering!)
