In terms of local storage on a mac your presets are saved under: MAC HD / LIBRARY / AUDIO / PRESETS / ATOM.

Inside of Atom your presets are saved into specific categories. The product ships with several pre-made categories for the factory sounds (bass, pads, leads, plucks and chords) but also comes with a "User," category that new sounds you create will default to.
