The Exciter is an FX unit inside of ATOM that adds harmonics to specific frequencies of your audio, providing a cool saturation or distortion typed effect that applies more narrowly than the distortion FX unit will.

The Exciter FX unit can be found in the FX section of ATOM:

The unit can be turned on by scrolling down in the fx menu and clicking the top right power icon of the Exciter section. It can also be done through the left-side light in the Exciter module of the fx rack section:

If the yellow on/off button is activated it means the Exciter is active.

The "Drive," parameter determines how much of the harmonic processing the signal receives. Higher values mean the effect is applied more intensely.

"Freq," determines the frequency at which the Exciter applies its effect. Anything above the "Freq," value will be excited, so traditionally it makes sense to use higher values here to make the exciter only work on some frequencies of your signal.

"Mix," is essentially a dry/wet knob for the Exciter. A Mix of 0 means none of your signal is run through the Exciter, while 100% means the entire signal will be processed through the Exciter.
