HOA stands for Homeowners Association. It’s an organization within a subdivision, planned community, or condominium complex that creates and enforces rules for the properties and residents in that area.

If you buy a home in a community with an HOA, you automatically become a member and are required to pay HOA fees. These fees help maintain shared spaces and community services. Some HOAs have strict rules about property changes, while others are more flexible.

HOAs and Solar Panels

When it comes to solar, solar access laws protect your right to go solar—even if you live in an HOA community. These laws prevent HOAs from banning homeowners from installing solar panel systems on their properties. The goal is to promote the use of clean, renewable energy across more homes.
