The ActiveLook Data Field is an advanced plugin that installs directly on your Garmin Edge 1030. It automatically connects to your ActiveLook-powered eyewear and pushes your live data directly into your field of view.
Information is displayed in the eyewear on individual data screens; each data screen contains from 1 to 6 forms of data, provided by your Garmin device.
Each of your data screens can be customized by combining more than 40 metrics.
You can navigate through the data screens by "swiping" or waving your hand in front of the gesture sensor on your eyewear.
To get started:
1- Set aside some time
Installing your data fields on your Garmin device will take a few minutes and some focus. Please set aside between 5 and 15 minutes to complete the process.
2- Ensure your ActiveLook eyewear are up to date
The first update, setup, and adjustment of your ActiveLook eyewear is done using the ActiveLook mobile application. Connect your Garmin device only after you've completed set-up of your eyewear with the ActiveLook app.
Download and then open the ActiveLook mobile app.
Charge your eyewear completely, and then turn them on. Refer to the guide here.
If your glasses are not automatically detected, go to the Glasses tab of the app and click 'search for new glasses'. Then follow the instructions to connect your eyewear.
If an update is available for your eyewear, it will automatically push through. This can take a few minutes.
IMPORTANT: You must disconnect the mobile app from your eyewear after they've been detected and paired. To do this, force-close the app on your mobile phone. Next, you must turn your eyewear off and then back on. Now your Garmin device is free to connect to your eyewear.
3- Synchronize and update your Garmin device and app.
Your Garmin Bike Computer and the Garmin Connect app must both be equipped with their latest software updates in order to successfully communicate with each other.
Turn on your Garmin device and pair it with your Garmin Connect mobile app.
If this doesn't work, please check Garmin's help here.
Look for a green dot on the Garmin device (top nav).
The Garmin Connect app will download software updates automatically behind the scenes while your device is connected to the app on your mobile phone. Once downloaded, updates will install automatically or prompt you to install them. Details regarding updates from Garmin can be found here.
4- Download the ActiveLook data field on your Garmin device
In the Garmin Connect app, access the Menu
On Android :
On iOS :
Scroll down, then click on Connect IQ Store. If Connect IQ is not yet installed on your phone, you will be prompted to install it. Proceed with that installation before continuing.
Search for ActiveLook in Connect IQ via the search bar at the top of the screen.
Select ActiveLook - Datafield.
Select Download.
As your Garmin is synched with Connect IQ, the installation should proceed immediately.
5- Activate the datafield for a Garmin Activity
In your chosen Garmin activity (sport applications), enable your preferred ActiveLook data fields:
Open the Activity during which the data field will be used: running, cycling, both, or something else.
Select the Activity screen on which you want to display (and therefore activate) the ActiveLook data field.
On your Garmin Edge :
Select 'Menu' > Activity Profiles.
Select a profile.
Select Data Screens.
Select a data screen.
Select Layout and Data Fields.
Swipe left or right to change the layout.
Select 'RIGHT'.
Double-tap a data field to change it.
In the field selection menu, scroll down and click on Connect IQ.
Choose ActiveLook DataField.
Select Done.
Now start the corresponding activity ("Cycling", here).
Turn your eyewear ON and they should automatically connect to your Garmin device.
While this completes the basic connection process, additional steps are possible to configure your data displays.
If this doesn't seem to work, try a simple reboot of your Garmin device. You can also get into a bit more detailed troubleshooting and use case scenarios here.
6- Configure your data screens
You can create up to 6 data dashboards, composed by combining 1 to 6 of the available metrics. There are more than 40 metrics available, follow the link to learn more.
By default the following screens are defined :

Edit your data screens

Will display :
Screen n°1 : (1 = Elapsed Time, 2 = Distance, 4 = Heart rate)
Screen n°2 : (1 = Elapsed Time, 2 = Distance, 12 = Speed)
Screen n°3 : (10 = Power 3", 18 = Cadence, 15 = Pace)
Screen n°4 : (0 = empty screen, display Off.)
The "Glasses name" Data Field parameter
Editing this field is not recommended. The ActiveLook Data Field will automatically register the first pair of ActiveLook eyewear it connects to.
In the following cases, however, you may need to clear the name of the glasses:
Your Garmin device has paired to the wrong eyewear.
You have new ActiveLook eyewear and need to reset the previously-registered eyewear.
To do so, simply click on the registered glasses name and erase it.
7- Using Laps on ActiveLook
The ActiveLook Garmin data field can display your lap-specific metrics into your ActiveLook eyewear.
To enable this, select the Lap variables you want (fields 33 to 43) and integrate them into your Garmin data screen; (how to edit your data screens, list of available metrics).
The corresponding metrics are reset when a new lap is started, whenever the new lap is manually triggered, or through the Garmin auto-lap feature. Lap metrics are also reset at the start of a new step of your workout plan.
When a new lap is triggered, the data of the previous lap will be kept displayed, frozen for 10 seconds before being replaced by the metrics of the new lap.
8 - How to use the Triathlon or Multi-sport mode
In order to connect your ActiveLook eyewear for both Cycling and Running activities, activate the data field inside both Cycling and Running activities on your Garmin watch; (see how to activate the data field in a chosen activity).
The Triathlon mode, as well as Multi-sport mode will launch the corresponding activities sequentially, and enable the data field in each of the activities in which it has been activated.
Note that you can configure different sets of screens for each activity, as described in above section.
