What’s the Difference Between Dollar Winnings vs Total Strokes?

You can choose between two scoring formats in PGA Majors Tiers contests: Dollar Winnings and Total Strokes.

Dollar Winnings (Standard Format)

  • Your score is based on the prize money your selected golfer earns in each tournament

  • Higher earnings = better score

Example:
If you pick a golfer who wins a tournament and earns $3,240,000, your score for that event is 3,240,000 points

Best for:

  • Simpler, high-variance scoring

  • Emphasizing big finishes (wins, top placements)

Total Strokes

  • Your score is based on your golfer’s actual performance (strokes relative to par)

  • Lower score = better (just like real golf)

Example:
If your golfer shoots -6, your score is -6

Best for:

  • More traditional golf-style scoring

  • Rewarding consistent performance across rounds

Key Difference

  • Dollar Winnings: Highest total wins

  • Total Strokes: Lowest total wins

Summary

  • Choose Dollar Winnings if you want a simpler, prize-based format

  • Choose Total Strokes if you want a more traditional, performance-based competition
