SHARES is a private, just-for-fun sports contest. Everyone in the contest starts with the same amount of pretend currency — called units — and uses it to make picks on real games: which team will win, by how much, how many points get scored, and so on.
A correct pick adds units to your pile; a wrong one takes some away. When the season or schedule is over, whoever has the most units wins.
A few things make SHARES different from a normal pick'em or survivor contest:
You pick as much or as little as you want. There's no set number of picks to make each week, and no requirement to pick every game. You can make one pick or fifty.
Nobody gets knocked out. A bad week doesn't eliminate you — you just have fewer units. You can keep playing and climbing the whole time.
Each pick stands on its own. Every pick is settled by itself when its game finishes, and the result is added to or subtracted from your running total.
Think of it less like a weekly quiz and more like a season-long game where you're managing a pile of chips and trying to grow it bigger than everyone else's.
💡 Good to know: the units in a SHARES contest are pretend — they can't be bought, cashed out, or turned into money, and there's no cash prize based on standings. (Separately, Splash charges a standard one-time service fee to run the overall contest, the same as any other contest format — but that fee is unrelated to the in-contest units or who ends up winning.)
