When a sensor status shows "Not Reporting", it means the Thiamis is not receiving input from that sensor. Commonly, you may see a 'timeout' error which means the Thiamis is unable to communicate with the sensor after a certain amount of time. See the checklist below for tips on the most common causes:
Power
Ensure that your sensor is receiving power and in the on state. Power cycling or restarting the instrument may help clear some errors.
Mode
Check that your sensor is set to the proper mode (such as P2P or survey mode) to allow for transmission or output of data thought the communication port.
Physical Connection
Connectors: Check that your sensor is connected to the correct port for which it is configured, e.g. RS232(A), (B) or (C) or USB (A) or (B). If you suspect a certain port is not working, you can try connecting your sensor to a different port, configuring by "Adding a Sensor", and then restarting the sensor.
Cables: In some circumstances, cables may fail. Try swapping out the cable that connects the Thiamis to your sensor and then restart the sensor.
Restart Sensor
Turn your instrument off by completely shutting it down or removing the power and then on again to reset any possible software hang-ups. You can remotely stop and start some sensors from the Monitoring or Configuration pages by toggling the Status button from On to Off, waiting a few seconds, and then flipping it back on.
Swap Sensor
If you have another sensor available, you can swap it out temporarily to isolate whether the issue is with the initial instrument.
Sensor Specific Issues
A sensor may also show a status that is specific to the model, such as a Filter Error, which you may require equipment service or consulting with the manufacturer for further technical support. For example, certain units may require firmware updates or connection to a PC to enable the appropriate modes.
If possible, try to test your Thiamis with a sensor that is known to work to help determine if a particular unit is not functioning.
