Creating a Poll

To create a new poll, you can follow these steps:

  1. Click Tools.

  2. Select Visitor Polls.

  3. Type in your question in the Poll Question field.

  4. Set up the Schedule Date and Schedule Time - to schedule on when the poll question will start displaying. Leaving both fields blank will make the question available for the website immediately.

  5. Click the Add Poll button. This will take you to the tools to edit your poll.

  6. Type in your Poll Choice in the field, and click the Add Choice button. It is recommended to create at least two choices for your poll question.

Note: Current polls can be edited in the future by clicking on their names.

Note: The results for the poll can be viewed in the back-end as well.

Visitor Polls Stack Items

Any new poll will automatically display through a "Polls (Manage under TOOLS)" stack item, overriding old polls. If you want to have a poll be taken off but would like to keep it in the back-end, through the Visitor Polls tool you can set the Schedule Date / Schedule Time for the poll to yesterday (or further back in time) and the most recent poll (date-wise and time-wise) is posted.

If you wish the stack item to display a specific question, you can follow these steps:

  1. Create a new "Polls (Manage under TOOLS)" stack item (if you did not have one set up for the website yet).

  2. Click the "Gear" icon next to your stack item.

  3. Click the "Poll Settings" tab and select a question of your choice in the "Poll" field. The default option for the field is "Automatically use the most recent poll".

  4. Optional: Enable or disable the Comments form (found below the poll choices) for the stack item.

  5. Click the "Save Changes" button.

Publishing Comments

You have the option to publish comments on the Poll Results page. To achieve this, follow these steps:

  1. Click the "Chat Bubble" icon next to a poll question in the Visitor Polls section, or click the "View/Publish Poll Comments" button when editing a poll question.

  2. Mark the boxes next to the comments you wish to publish.

  3. Click the "Save Changes" button.

Note: You can delete a comment from a poll by clicking the "Trash Bin" icon. However, deleting the comment will also remove the vote that came with it.

Adjusting the Poll Options

When editing a poll, you have the ability to adjust the Poll Options for it. The options can be found on the right side of the "Edit Poll Question" box.

These are what you can adjust in there:

  • Voting Limit: The limit for how many times visitors can vote on the poll.

  • Voting Frequency: The frequency on how many times visitors can vote on the poll in relation to the Voting Limit. Can be set to "Total" or "Daily".

  • Poll Results: The option to enable or disable the visibility of the results on the Poll Results page.

  • Display Results As: The option to adjust how the results are displayed on the Poll Results page. Can be set to "Percentages" or "Number of Votes".

  • Use Captcha: The option to enable or disable the Captcha feature for the poll. It is recommended to have turned on if you want to prevent bots from spamming your poll.
