Key Points

  • Create a podcast and periodically upload audio files (episodes).

  • Podcasts will automatically display neatly on your podcasts page. If the "Podcasts" page is a menu tab in your website's main menu bar, then a link to each podcast is also added as a sub-page under the podcast menu button.

  • Supports uploaded audio and/or externally hosted audio files.

  • Much like Photo Galleries, you can upload as many podcast episodes for your podcast as you want; there is no limit for each podcast you have or have created for your website.

"Podcasts" Tool Overview

Listed below are what you can find in the "Podcasts" tool:

  • "View My Podcast Page" Button - Clicking this button opens the "Podcasts" page on your website.

  • "Create New Podcast" Button - Clicking this button allows you to create a new podcast.

  • Title - Displays the names of the podcasts you and your group created.

  • Description - Displays the descriptions of your podcasts.

  • Blue "Audio" Icon - Clicking this icon opens the section to view and manage the uploaded episodes in a podcast.

  • Blue "Upload" Icon - Clicking this icon opens the section to upload a new episode in a podcast.

  • Yellow "Pencil" Icon - Clicking this icon allows you to edit a podcast.

  • Red "Trash Bin" Icon - Clicking this icon allows you to delete a podcast

    • Note: Once you delete your podcast, it is gone for good and there will be no way to undo it.

    • If you accidently deleted a podcast and you need it back, our team can restore it if we have a back-up of the podcast.

  • Blue "Arrows" Icon - If you hold down the left-click on the icon, you can drag and move a podcast - to rearrange it within the list.

Create a New Podcast

Step 1 - Open the "Podcasts" tool

Step 2 - Click the "Create New Podcast" Button

Step 3 - Enter Podcast Details

Set up the information for your podcast. A podcast could be created for "The Morning Show" or "The Dave and Sally Show", for example.

For the best results, fill out all the fields:

  • Image - Upload an image to go along with your podcast. Square images work best. Follow any size guidelines provided.

  • Category - The category your podcast will fall under. The available categories are listed below.

    • Arts

    • Business

    • Comedy

    • Education

    • Fiction

    • Government

    • History

    • Health & Fitness

    • Kids & Family

    • Leisure

    • Music

    • News

    • Religion & Spirituality

    • Science

    • Society & Culture

    • Sports

    • Technology

    • True Crime

    • TV & Film

  • Title - The title of the podcast (Ex: "The Dave and Sally Show"). This field is required as it sets up the name and page slug for the podcast's page

  • Subtitle - The podcast's subtitle.

  • Description - Short 1-2 sentence description of the podcast.

  • Author - The author of the podcast.

  • Owner Name - The name of the podcast owner.

  • Owner Email - The email of the podcast owner.

  • Copyright - The year and/or other copyright info.

  • Explicit - Select from the options provided for your podcast's explicit status.

Step 4 - Select "Create Podcast".

Click the "Create Podcast" button to create your podcast.

Note: Creating a podcast also creates a page for it under the "Podcasts" menu tab. If it ends up having the same page slug as another page, we recommend updating the slug for either one in their Page Settings.

Editing a Podcast:

Listed below are the buttons you can find at the top when editing / managing a podcast:

  • "All Podcasts" Button - Takes you back to the list of podcasts added through the "Podcasts" tool.

  • "View Podcasts Page" Button - Takes you to the main "Podcasts" page on your website.

  • "Create New Podcast" Button - Opens the section to create a new podcast.

  • "Upload/Add Media" Button - Opens the section to upload a new episode in your podcast.

  • "Current Episodes" Button - Opens the section to view and manage the uploaded episodes in your podcast.

  • "View Page" Button - Opens the podcast's page on your website.

  • "Edit" Button - Opens the section to edit the podcast's details.

  • "RSS Feed" Button - Opens the feed of your podcast.

    • The feed can also be found in the "Podcast Feed URL" link on your podcast's page.

    • The feed can be shared and used on any website - including your own.

Upload an Audio File to a Podcast

Step 1 - Click the "Upload/Add Media" Button

After a podcast has been added, click the "Upload/Add Media" button for the particular podcast in order to add a new episode - or audio file.

Note: This can be done while editing an existing podcast as well.

Step 2 - Enter the Details for the New Episode

For the best results, fill out all the fields:

  • Title - The title of the episode (e.g. "Interview with Randy Travis").

  • Subtitle - The subtitle for the episode.

  • Description - The description for the episode.

  • Explicit - Select from the options provided for the episode's explicit status.

  • Upload - Upload the audio file for the episode. File size limitations apply here.

  • Insert URL (Optional) - If you are using a file that is already uploaded on another server, you can insert the link to it here. No file size limits apply here.

  • Duration - Set up text to display the length of the episode (e.g. 5:05).

  • Episode Image - Add an image for your episode.

    • If no image is set up, the podcast's image / icon will be used for the episode on the website instead.

  • Published - Choose the publish status for your file.

    • Select "Draft" to keep the file in the back-end; you can come back and finish adding your file later.

    • Select "Published" to make your file public on your podcast's page.

  • Publish Date - Schedule the publish date and time of this audio file episode. It works as long as the "Published" field is set to "Published".

Step 3 - Click the "Upload File" Button

Clicking the button will add the new episode to your podcast's episode list.

Can our podcasts be shared via RSS feeds?

Yes, and your podcasts have links to their own feeds. Listed below are where you can find them:

  • The "RSS Feed" button when editing / managing a podcast in the back-end.

  • The "Podcast Feed URL" link on the podcasts' pages.
