Edit or delete a horse profile

Change a horse's name, type, breed or weight, or delete a horse, and see what happens to its trainings.

Keep your horse's profile up to date, or delete a horse you no longer ride. This article is for horse owners: co-riders on a shared horse can't edit its profile.

Before you start

  • Only a horse's owner can edit or delete it. The owner is usually the person who added the horse, and is marked with a yellow crown in the horse's Team section.

  • If someone shared a horse with you, ask its owner to change the profile. To leave a shared horse, see Share a horse with co-riders (Horse Team).

Edit a horse profile

To edit a horse profile:

  1. Go to the Profile tab and tap the horse.

  2. On iPhone, tap the three dots in the top-right corner, then tap Edit. On Android, tap the pencil icon in the top-right corner.

  3. Change the details you want, then save your changes.

The horse profile now shows the new details. You can change details such as the name, type, breed, birth date, gender, main discipline and picture. Horse weight and equipment weight are at the bottom of the horse profile. To see what each field does, see Horse profile fields and horse types.

If you change the horse type

A new horse type applies only to trainings you record after the change: earlier trainings keep their gaits. For example, if you change a horse's type to Icelandic Horse, only new trainings can show tölt. Equilab detects tölt only for horses with the type Icelandic Horse.

Delete a horse

Before you delete a horse, check what happens to its data:

Deleting a horse is permanent

  • Support can't restore a horse you deleted.

  • Your trainings with the horse stay on your profile, but without the horse's name.

  • The horse's calendar events stay, but without a horse selected.

  • The horse's Records are deleted.

To delete a horse on iPhone:

  1. Go to the Profile tab and tap the horse.

  2. Tap the three dots in the top-right corner.

  3. Tap Delete and confirm.

To delete a horse on Android:

  1. Go to the Profile tab and tap the horse.

  2. Tap the pencil icon in the top-right corner.

  3. Scroll down and tap Delete.

  4. Enter the horse's name to confirm.

The horse is no longer on your profile. Its trainings stay on your profile without a horse.

If you can't edit or delete a horse, you're probably not its owner. Ask the owner, or contact support if the horse should be yours.

Frequently asked question

Here are answers to common questions about horse ownership and deleted horses.

Can support restore a horse I deleted by mistake?

No. A horse you deleted yourself is gone for good. If a horse disappeared from your profile without you deleting it, see A ride or horse is missing.
