Set up Equilab on your Apple Watch so you can start and stop your trainings and see your stats on your wrist. You install Equilab on the watch from the Watch app on your iPhone.
Before you start
Equilab works on Apple Watch Series 3 and later.
Install Equilab on your iPhone and log in to your Equilab account there first.
Recording with your watch and iPhone together (Remote mode) is free. Recording with the watch alone, without your iPhone (Standalone), needs Premium.
For an Android watch, see Set up Equilab on your Android watch.
Install Equilab on your Apple Watch
On your iPhone, open the Watch app.
Scroll to Available Apps.
Find Equilab and tap Install.
When Equilab asks for access to your Health data, allow it. Equilab needs this permission to track with your watch.
Available Apps in the Watch app on your iPhone
Equilab now shows on your Apple Watch. Before your first ride, set up your watch so it doesn't close Equilab during a training.
Keep your Apple Watch from closing Equilab
If your Apple Watch closes Equilab during a ride, the recording stops. Turn on Background App Refresh for Equilab so the watch keeps Equilab running:
On your iPhone, open the Watch app.
Go to Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
Turn on Background App Refresh.
In the list of apps below, turn on Equilab.
Equilab switched on in Background App Refresh on the Watch app on your iPhone
Your Apple Watch now keeps Equilab running while you ride. To record your first training with the watch, see Record a ride with your Apple Watch.
If Equilab doesn't work on your Apple Watch
Check these in order:
Equilab isn't in Available Apps: check that Equilab is installed on your iPhone and that you're logged in there. Equilab needs an Apple Watch Series 3 or later.
You can't start tracking on the watch: check that you allowed Equilab to access your Health data. Equilab needs this permission to track with your watch. To turn it on, open the Health app on your iPhone, tap your profile picture, then tap Apps > Equilab and turn on the data types.
Trainings stop during the ride: check that Background App Refresh is on for Equilab in the Watch app on your iPhone. When you record with your watch and iPhone together, don't swipe Equilab away on your iPhone: the training can be interrupted even though the watch still shows it as running. For more checks, see My ride stopped recording or was cut short.
