Creating an Access Keycode

Learn how to create access keypad codes for operating equipment with keypads.

Keypad access can be used on both EquipmentShare rental equipment and customer-owned assets equipped with T3-compatible keypads.

In both scenarios, keypad codes are created and managed within T3. Once keypad codes are created and assigned to assets, operators can use those codes to start and operate machines with keypad access enabled.

In T3, Managers or Owners have the ability to create and assign a keycode to a user for operating an asset's keypad. First, your users need to exist in T3. Follow these steps to Add a New User.

Adding Keycode(s) to Users

  • From T3 Fleet, select Company from the left navigation menu.

  • Select the Keypad Codes tab.

  • Select Create keypad code

  • From the Create New Keypad Code window, fill out the information.

  • Select a Key Code Type:

    • General Code: A general access code. When used, the keypad code log will show the code, not the actual user.

      • Enter a Name.

      • Enter a Custom Code of at least 4 digits and max ten, numeric values only or select Generate Key Code box to have the system generate a code for you.

      • Select Create code. The keycode will display in the table.

    • User-Based: A code specific to a user. For more information, check out Adding a New User.

      • Select Users from the list.

      • Enter a Custom Code of at least 4 digits and max ten, numeric values only or select Generate Key Code box to have the system generate a code for you.

      • Select Create code. The keycode will display in the table.

Next Steps

Now you must assign the keycode to assets with keypad access enabled, including EquipmentShare rental assets or customer-owned equipment configured with compatible keypads.
