The placement quiz helps find the student’s appropriate grade level for reading and math.

How does it work?

  • Students in grades 1-5 will automatically be assigned a placement quiz when they log into eSpark for the first time.

  • It should take about 5-15 minutes for students to complete each subject's placement quiz. eSpark will save student progress if they don't complete the entire placement quiz in a single sitting.

  • The number of questions in the placement quiz varies depending on student performance throughout the quiz.

  • After the placement quiz, eSpark automatically assigns standards-aligned “Quests” at their level.

How can teachers reassign the placement quiz?

  1. Click on the student's name on the Activity tab.

  2. Use the dropdown to choose math or reading.

  3. Click "change their reading level."

  4. Click "re-assign the placement quiz."

  5. Confirm your action by clicking "re-assign the placement quiz." Then you're all set! The next time the student logs in, they will take a brand new placement quiz.

How can teachers manually change a student's learning path level?

If you already have a good idea of what level your students should be working on, manually adjusting their levels may be a better option than having students take a placement quiz. Click here to learn how to change student levels.
