Understanding User Roles in Essential ERM

There are four types of users in Essential ERM:

1. Admin Users

  • Have full access to all features and data

  • Can manage system configuration and user accounts

2. Standard Users

  • Can use all standard system features

  • Can only view data for portfolios they’ve been granted access to

3. Read Only Users

  • Same data access as Standard Users

  • Cannot make changes to system data

  • Admins may optionally allow them to:

    • Add/edit personal notes on risks and resources

4. Contributors

  • Cannot log into Essential ERM

  • Access system via:

    • Email-based invitations

    • Simplified web screens tied to specific workflow tasks

  • Invited and managed by Standard or Admin Users

Why Can’t I See Certain Features?

If features described in the User Guide aren't visible:

  • Your organization may have disabled the feature, or

  • Your user type does not have access

If you think you should have access, contact your system administrator.
