How to Change a Risk’s Portfolio
Go to the Risk Details screen
Click on the Portfolio dropdown near the top
Select a new portfolio to move the risk into
The dropdown will only show portfolios the user has access to
Admin Users see all portfolios
Standard Users see only those assigned to them
What Happens When You Move a Risk
When a risk is moved, the following Bow Tie items are automatically moved with it:
Root Causes
Mitigations
Consequences
This helps preserve risk context and security, as these items often share the same sensitivity as the risk itself.
What If Items Are Shared Across Multiple Risks?
If any Root Causes, Mitigations, or Consequences are shared with other risks, you’ll see a pop-up warning. You’ll be given two choices:
Option 1: Move Items
Items are moved to the new portfolio
They are removed from any other risks they were previously linked to
Option 2: Copy Items
New copies of the items are created in the new portfolio
The original items remain linked to other risks
Duplicated items will only be visible to Admins or users with access to both portfolios
What Happens to Other Linked Data?
