Viewing the Heat Map

Each Strategic Category section contains a Heat Map that displays only the risks associated with that category. This view helps provide context for managers and stakeholders focused on that area.

Summary Information Below the Heat Map

Below each heat map, the system automatically displays:

  • The total number of risks attached to the Strategic Category

  • The average Residual Risk Score of those risks

  • Two trend arrows:

    • One shows how the average Residual Risk score has changed in the last 90 days

    • The other shows the change over the last 365 days

How Trend Arrows Work

  • A red upward arrow means the average score is higher than before

  • A green downward arrow means the average score is lower

  • A gray horizontal arrow means there has been no change

Risk Display Limits

  • Only the first 9 risks by Rank are shown in each quadrant of the heat map

  • If more than 9 risks fall into a quadrant:

    • The lowest-ranked risks will not be shown, but

    • They are still included in the summary, average, and trend data

Up to 40 risks can be plotted per Strategic Category or Objective in the full Heat Map Report using filters (covered later in the guide).
