There are different User roles that can be assigned for logging into Essential ERM. These include Administrative (Admin) Users, Standard Users and Read Only Users. The type of User role that you have been granted will affect the features and data that you are able to access in Essential ERM.

If some features described in this User Guide are not visible to you when you log in, it could be that your organization has not included that feature in their configuration or that your user type does not allow access. If you believe that you should have access to features that are not visible to you, contact your system administrator.

  1. Admin Users can access all data and all software functionality by default, including system configuration screens and User management functions.

  2. Standard Users can access normal features of the system and can only access the data portfolios that they have been expressly granted access to by Administrators.

  3. Read Only Users have the same functional and data access permissions and restrictions as Standard Users, but cannot make changes to system data. In some cases Administrators may choose to grant extra permissions to Read Only users so that they can add and edit their own notes on Risks and other resources in the system.

Note that there is an additional role for use with Essential ERM called a Contributor. Contributors cannot log into the system and view the functionality. Instead, Contributors may be invited into workflow processes by Standard and Admin Users. Contributors will interact with Essential ERM through emails and simplified web screens as described in later sections of this document.
