Strategy Heat Map and Trend Arrows

Each Strategic Category section includes a Heat Map that contains only the Risks associated with that specific category. In this way, the graphic provides excellent context for business managers and other stakeholders who are interested in that Strategic Category.

Summary information for all of the Risks attached to the Strategic Category is automatically calculated and displayed underneath each Heat Map.

This includes the total number of Risks attached to the Strategic Category, the average Residual Risk Score of all attached Risks, and two trend arrows showing how that average Residual Risk score has changed in the last 90 and 365 days.

If the current average Residual Risk score is higher than it was either 90 or 365 days ago, then that time period will have a red upward arrow. If the current average score is lower, then a green down arrow will appear. If there is no change over the given time period, a horizontal gray arrow will be shown.

Note that due to space constraints, only the first 9 risks by Risk Rank will be displayed in any given quadrant on the Heat Map. If more than 9 risks are plotted in a specific quadrant, the Risks with the lowest Rank will not be displayed, but all Risk will be included in the summary, average, and trend indicators below. Also note that up to 40 risks associated with a single Strategic Category or single Strategic Objective can be plotted on a Heat Map by using the filters in the Heat Map Report, as described here later in this User Guide.
