The Reporting tab is accessible by all user types, and opens by default on the configurable Heat Map report pictured below.

The drop down fields can be used in combination to determine which risks will be displayed on the heat map. For example, if a User selects Residual, By Risk (10), and an example Business Area called “Board Report”, the heat map will update to display the top 10 risks by rank that are tagged “Board Report”, plotted by their residual scores.

The Portfolio drop down will appear only if the Portfolio feature is enabled for your Essential ERM account. When portfolios are enabled, Users will only be able to view results in reports for the specific data records that they have been granted access to.

The calendar drop down allows the User to plot current risks on the heat map report based on their historical scores. Risks that meet the filter criteria will be plotted based on their risk scores on the historical day selected. Deleted risks will not be shown through this feature, even if they would have been displayed on the heat map on the selected date in the past.

Standard Users and Admin Users can download Heat Maps as PNG files by clicking on the icon in the bottom right corner of the heat map window. Read Only users can filter and view reports in Essential ERM but cannot download them.

By default, the chart legend appears to the right of the heat map chart. If this causes the full name of a Risk to be cut off, the full Risk name can be viewed by hovering over the corresponding circle for the Risk plotted on the heat map.

Alternatively, selecting the “Show legend below chart” check box at the top of the report screen will move the legend below the Heat Map chart. In this configuration, the title of each risk will not be cut off, even if it spans over more than one line. This legend position is often helpful when users are downloading Heat Map images for inclusion in briefing reports.

The Risk Trend report is tabulated nightly, and shows risk scores over a configurable time period. The filters and other options in the Risk Trend report function the same as the options in the Heat Map report.

The Key Risk Summary report displays each risk in a summarized fashion suitable for downloading and inclusion in risk briefing reports. The data for each risk is drawn from the underlying Risk Details screen, which can be accessed by clicking on the blue risk name.

This report will pull the description information for the risk from the Risk Details, along with the current Residual Risk Score. The 90d Trend compares the current Residual Score of the Risk to what it was 90 days ago and displays a green arrow when the current score is lower, a red upward arrow when the current score is higher, and a gray sideways arrow when the current score is unchanged. The 365d Trend functions in the same manner, but by comparing the current Residual Risk Score to the score for the Risk 365 days ago.

The “Previous Period Comments” and “Current Period Comments” are drawn from the Notes Section of the Risk Details screen. This Notes section allows Standard and Admin Users to select specific notes to be included in this report.

Finally, some organizations may have additional reports that are tailored to their industry and are not described here. An example of this is the “Key Metrics Report” that is used by financial institutions in certain geographies. User instructions for these reports are provided separately from this general User Guide.
