What is the Interaction Checker?

The EMGuidance Interaction Checker allows healthcare professionals to check for potentially harmful interactions. Interaction details are listed as either minor, moderate or severe. It includes, mechanism of action, evidence for information and additional advice on the interaction applicable. The interaction results contain both theoretical and clinically significant interactions.

Where to find the Interaction Checker:

Step 1:

Go onto the EMGuidance webpage (www.emguidance.com) and click ‘Interactions’ right at the top of the home page. (Click on image to enlarge)

Step 2:

Type the medicines you would like to check. This can be a trade name or active ingredient. Kindly note that you will need a minimum of two medicines in order to check for interactions. (Click on image to enlarge)

Step 3:

When you have inserted 2 or more interactions, the interaction checker will check for interactions and show you the interaction details. On the right-hand side of your screen. In the example below propranolol & clonidine are illustrated and they render a 'severe' interaction. (Click on image to enlarge)
