How do I add a special offer featuring a discount off the rack rate?

Updated today

In ETG’s Extranet, you can create special offers (special rates) using ready-made templates.

Types of special rates

  • Early booking — allows you to set restrictions for advance booking. Specify the period (relative to the check-in date) by which the booking must be made. The period is calculated from the start of the check-in day (00:00).

Last-minute offer — allows you to set restrictions for late booking. Specify the period (relative to the check-in date) after which the booking can be made. The period is calculated from the start of the check-in day (00:00).

  • Length of stay — allows you to set a minimum stay.

For example, if bookings must be for at least 2 nights, set “2” in the “Minimum stay” field.

  • Fixed sales period — allows you to set the period during which the rate applies (possible stay dates). You can also set the booking window (the dates when a guest can book this rate).

For example, you can sell rooms for the New Year holidays only from the beginning of September to the end of October.

  • Active users rate — visible only to logged-in ZenHotels users. Use it to attract active travelers.

Note: You cannot create a special rate for a package or B2B rates.

  • Free night offer — specify the number of nights after which one is free (e.g., if set to “3,” then the 3rd, 6th, 9th nights, etc. will be free).

  • Non-refundable — allows you to take full prepayment immediately after booking and keep it in case of cancellation. In the settings, set 100% prepayment and 100% no-show penalty.

How to create a special rate

  1. Go to the “Rooms and rates” section and select grouping by rates.

  2. Click the three dots next to the required rate and select “Create special offer.”

  3. Choose the appropriate template from the seven available.

  4. Rename the rate if needed. Specify the discount size and the rate validity dates.

  5. Fill in the unique field of the rate (not available for the “For active users” rate). For example, enter a value in “Sales will close in…” or “Free nights.”

  6. Specify who can access the rate.

Note: The base rate and the special rate may be available to different audiences (e.g., the base rate to all users, the special rate to B2B users only).

  1. If you are on the Hybrid model, select the payment model for the rate — Agency, Merchant, or both.

  2. Set the cancellation and penalty conditions.

  3. Choose the meal type included in the rate.

  4. Click “Save.” The created special rate will appear under the base rate.

Note: When using a channel manager, child (special) rates are calculated automatically in the ETG’s Extranet. If you want to update these rates via your channel manager, after creating the rate, send a request to hotels@emergingtravel.com (include your property ID, channel manager name, and the name of the rate to be made independent).
