Membership
Membership provides an authoritative, digital-first context for decentralising the Ethical Brand Foundation's uniquely open and transparent certification procedures. By distilling a complicated system into a simple set of component functions that qualified stakeholders (active members) are able to interact with, we are empowering the general public to both direct our internal research and influence certification outcomes based on the most reliable evidence: personal insights and experiences.
The Token System
The eb™ Token system gamifies the membership experience, making it fun and rewarding to pay forward exceptional brand experiences. You can do this simply by nominating brands that impress you for eb™ Certification. Anyone can participate. No subscription is required, and you don't need to be an expert in anything to earn Tokens.
Once you have spotted an organisation (probably local to you but could be anywhere) that you would like to see awarded eb™ certification, all you need to do is complete a brief nomination form and tell us why you chose to nominate this particular organisation.
Each Token is a type of trust credit that rewards active members for their participation and judgment, which is evident in the outcomes of their participation in our standardised certification procedures. We refer to these as qualified influence actions (QIAs), which include nominations, endorsements and challenges. Any one or combination of these actions can and do influence whether or not the nominated entity achieves the rating required for eb™ certification.
At the end of the 30-day mandatory qualifying period (which all newly nominated brands undergo) if the brand achieves the required threshold rating to be awarded eb certification, those members who nominated or endorsed that outcome are rewarded with Tokens. Equally, if the nominated brand fails to achieve the required support to be awarded eb certification, those members who challenged the at nomination are awarded Tokens.
Tokens translate the value of thoughtful participation into extended rights, privileges and influence both on the eb™ platform and elsewhere in the marketplace.
