Sygno-Fi Firmware Update (devices & translator/expanders)

The patch realigns the Battery Fault reporting voltage of the following Sygno-fi devices

What does the patch do?

The patch realigns the Battery Fault reporting voltage for the following Sygno-Fi devices:

  • Optical, Heat, and Multi-Criteria Detectors

  • Manual Call Points

  • Remote Indicators

  • Wall Sounder Modules

  • Base Sounder and Base Sounder VAD


What do I need to install the patch?

  • Laptop

  • Micro USB Data Sync Cable

  • Sygno-fi Device Patch Software

  • Screwdriver (for removing Translator and Expander lids)

  • Terminal Screwdriver (for powering the Translator during the update)

  • Long Nose Pliers (for removing shorting jumpers)


Which devices will I need access to?

  • Sygno-fi Translators and Expanders (if fitted on-site)

  • The patch software will determine if the Translator or Expander needs upgrading and wirelessly transmit the patch to relevant devices listed above on the node.

  • Ensure all devices have communication with the Translator/Expander during the upgrade. Devices without communication will not receive the patch.


Sygno-fi Device Patch Procedure

  1. Install the Sygno-fi Device Updater Software
    Ensure your laptop has an internet connection during the installation process.

  2. Powering the Translator
    The Translator needs to be powered by one of the following methods:

    • Method A: 24V applied to the 2-way green push-in connector. Move the shorting jumpers to the top set of pins (as shown).

    • Method B: 24V DC applied to the 4-way green push-in connector (Not Loop Data). The shorting jumpers can remain in the lower position.


      Note: Sygno-fi Expanders can continue to be powered from their PSU.


  3. Connect the Translator/Expander
    Plug the Micro USB Data Sync Cable into the Translator or Expander. Open the Firmware Updater software.

  4. Upgrade Procedure

    • Click the read “R” square.

    • Select the Translator or Expander from the dropdown menu and press the Start Button.

    • The software will check if the unit needs an upgrade.

    • If prompted, remove Jumpers J2 and J3, then press ENTER.

    • The firmware update will begin.

    • Refit Jumpers J2 & J3 when prompted and press ENTER.

    • The Translator or Expander will be updated.

  5. Reassembly
    Refitting of any jumpers or cables removed during the process is required to complete the update.
