Troubleshooting Connection Issues

After clicking "connect" there is just a spinning blue circle, and it won't finish the connection.

If the terminal initiates the connection, but does not move to the connection screen, your terminal may need to update. While our hardware team does its best to update terminals before shipping them to you, sometimes the terminals are updated during shipping. If this happens, leave the device and terminal alone until the terminal completes its firmware update. It is very important that you do not attempt to restart the device or disconnect the Bluetooth connection during the update. This can take anywhere from 2 to 25 minutes depending on the size of the update. Once the update is complete, the terminal will restart, indicated by three beeps and a flash of all of the indicator lights, and then the mobile app will show a successful connection.

I received an error message that the update failed because the battery was too low.

Sometimes, if the battery is too low on the device, the device will not be able to complete the update. In this instance, the mobile app will display this message: "Connection failed - Updating the reader software failed because the reader's battery is too low. Charge the reader before trying again." In this instance, make sure to connect the device to a power source to charge the battery above 50% in order to complete the software update. Once the battery's power is above 50% you can attempt to retry the software update. We recommend keeping the terminal plugged in while it is updating, to ensure the battery stays charged, or until the battery is at 100%.

I received an error that the location on my device was not found.

If you receive this error, check the settings on your event, following the instructions listed in "enable terminals in your event" above. If that does not resolve the issue, follow the instructions for your mobile device to verify that Eventeny has access to location services on the device. We recommend setting the location services to "always allow" or "always" to ensure uninterrupted service while a terminal is connected.
