Follow these steps to stream from your computer or laptop to EventLive using OBS Studio, free broadcasting software. This is helpful if you want to use a DSLR, mirrorless, or other professional camera, or if you want to stream content from your computer / laptop.
What You Need
A computer or laptop (Windows or Mac)
OBS Studio (free broadcasting software)
Your EventLive event RTMP URL and Stream Key
(Optional) A camera connected to your computer (like a DSLR or webcam)
Step 1: Download and Install OBS Studio
Go to the OBS Studio website and download OBS Studio for your operating system.
Install OBS Studio by following the on-screen instructions.
Step 2: Get Your EventLive RTMP URL and Stream Key
Log in to your EventLive account.
Go to your event.
Click "How to Go Live" tab
Choose RTMP in the drop down menu
Find the RTMP URL and Stream Key for your event. You will need these to connect OBS Studio to EventLive.
If you would like to test the set up before the event, please use the Free Test Event and stream key that starts with TEST.
The stream key for your scheduled event will only become active one hour before your scheduled event time. Until then, you can use the TEST stream key.
Important: Keep your Stream Key private. Anyone with this key can stream to your event.
Step 3: Set Up OBS Studio
Download and Install OBS Studio on your computer.
Open OBS Studio, skip Auto Configuration Wizard
In OBS Studio choose Service: EventLive.pro, and enter your event or test stream key.
Step 4: Add Your Video and Audio Sources
To use a camera (like a DSLR or webcam):
Click the + button under the Sources box.
Select Video Capture Device.
Choose your camera from the device list.
Click OK.
To stream a window (like a Microsoft Teams call):
Click the + button under the Sources box.
Select Window Capture.
Choose the window you want to stream (for example, your Teams call).
Click OK.
To add audio:
Click the + button under the Sources box.
Select Audio Input Capture.
Choose your microphone or audio device.
Click OK.
Step 5: Start Streaming
Double-check your video and audio sources in OBS Studio.
Click Start Streaming (bottom right corner).
Go to your EventLive event page to confirm your stream is live.
Remember to click the Record button to save the copy of your live stream locally on the computer.
Troubleshooting Tips
No video or audio showing on EventLive:
Make sure you have added the correct sources in OBS Studio and that they are not muted.Stream not starting:
Double-check your RTMP URL and Stream Key. Make sure there are no extra spaces when you copy and paste.OBS Studio not detecting your camera:
Make sure your camera is connected and turned on before opening OBS Studio.Audio echo or feedback:
Only use one microphone source. Mute any extra audio sources in OBS Studio.
Important Notes
Streaming from a computer is a bit more advanced than using the EventLive app, but it gives you more control and lets you use professional cameras.
You can practice with a test event before your real event to make sure everything works.
Additional Tips
For best results, use a wired internet connection.
