This program consists of students checking in daily with an adult at the start of school to retrieve a goal sheet and encouragement. The trusted adult provides feedback on the sheet throughout the day. At the end of the day, students check out with the adult and discuss the day. The student takes the sheet home to be signed and returns it the following morning at check in.

When students’ absenteeism is due to behavioral issues at school or a lack of meaningful relationships, CICO is a wonderful, simple and responsive intervention that can be highly effective.

This is most commonly used within PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions & Supports). Click here to learn more about it, to find additional resources and information, as well as CICO tracking sheets that you can download and utilize for free.
