Overview
The Loss Location section of the New Claim form records where the loss actually occurred. In many residential claims, this is the same as the insured's home address. For claims involving rental properties, commercial sites, or losses at a different address, you will enter the loss location separately.
Evolve also supports multiple loss locations on a single claim through the Additional Loss Locations feature.
Copy From Above
If the loss occurred at the insured's home address, click the Copy From Above button to automatically populate the Loss Location fields with the address entered in the Primary Insured section. This saves time and reduces data entry errors on residential claims where the insured and loss addresses are the same.
Loss Location Fields
Location ID — An identifier for this specific loss location. This is useful when a claim involves multiple properties or when your organization tracks locations by a unique code.
Street Address / Address 2 — The street address where the loss occurred. Use Address 2 for apartment numbers, suite numbers, or building identifiers.
City / State / ZIP — The city, state (dropdown), and ZIP code of the loss location. The ZIP code is especially important because it drives features like Assign by ZIP on the Manage Claims page.
County — The county where the loss occurred. This is required for certain regulatory reporting, particularly on flood and catastrophe claims.
Country — Defaults to the United States. Change this for international claims if your organization handles losses outside the US.
Additional Loss Locations
Some claims involve damage at more than one property — for example, a storm event that damaged both a primary residence and a detached garage at a different address, or a commercial insured with multiple locations.
To add more locations, click the Additional Loss Locations link below the primary Loss Location section. Each additional location has the same set of address fields (Street Address, City, State, ZIP, County, Country) plus its own Location ID.
Additional Loss Locations are tracked throughout the claim lifecycle and appear in claim reports and exports.
Tips
Always verify the loss address before saving a new claim. An incorrect ZIP code can affect adjuster assignment (if your organization uses Assign by ZIP) and may cause reporting errors on catastrophe or flood claims.
If the loss location is different from the insured's mailing address, make sure you do not use Copy From Above — enter the loss address manually instead.
