Payment delays and hassles can be frustrating - everyone deals with them once in a while, and we can all attest to the fact that they aren’t a great experience.

We sincerely understand how you can feel when a gift card declines. But, while it’s challenging, the best thing to do is usually to be patient and try to find out the reason why your transaction keeps being rejected.

Generally, there are a few reasons why you could be facing this issue. They include:

The Card May Be Invalid

In most cases, the reason why you might be getting a declined transaction is because you uploaded an invalid card. Basically, this means that you entered an incorrect code - or one that hasn’t been activated yet.

Sometimes, you could also be using a card that is in violation of the issuer’s terms and conditions. This could result in a card becoming invalid.

So, we recommend that you double-check the card’s code and ensure that your usage is in compliance with the issuer’s general guidelines.

Your Card Might Be Redeemed

Your card could also be declined because it has already been redeemed. If you’re sure you didn’t redeem it earlier, then its details might have been exposed to a hacker or some other unauthorized party.

As a rule of thumb, remember to always be careful with your card details and ensure they don’t get leaked.

The Card Might Be Deactivated

If a card issuer or a previous owner suspects that a card is missing or stolen, they could go ahead to deactivate it. If this is the case, then we might not be able to help much - instead, try to contact the card’s source to see if it can be reactivated again.

Your Card Might Also Be Unactivated

Some card issuers will require you to activate a gift card before you go ahead to use it. If you skipped this step, then you probably won’t be able to use the card for transactions. So, activate the card, and give it a try.
