If you have multiple workspaces on Expandi or have certain permissions to manage somebody else's workplaces as a workspace admin or member you can transfer companies between workspaces using the Transfer company action.
In this article, we will explain what permission is required to be able to transfer companies between workspaces, show you where to find the transfer company action, tell you more about it, when it can be used, and what would be the most common use cases and workarounds for it.
Who can transfer companies between workspaces (permissions required)
You can transfer companies between workspaces if you're the owner of a workspace where the company is created or somebody invited you to manage a workspace with a workspace admin or member role.
However, just having an admin or a member access to a workspace is not enough to be able to transfer companies created under the workspace that you have access to. If certain permissions are not included in the workspace admin or member role you will not be able to transfer companies between workspaces.
What permission must be included in the role so you can transfer companies between workspaces?
In the workspace admin or member role permission to 'Edit company workspace' must be included (selected) in order for the workspace admin or member to transfer companies between workspaces:
If the permission 'Edit company workspace' is not included (selected) in the role created for the user, they won't be able to transfer companies between workspaces that they have access to.
Where is the transfer company button located?
Please see the steps below that should be followed in order to access the button to transfer the company:
Go to your Workspace and click on the Companies menu item on Expandi:
In the Companies page, click on the Settings icon next to the company you'd like to check to access:
Now click on the Company settings tab:
Below you can see in what section a button to transfer the company is located:
When can you transfer the company and all LinkedIn accounts under it?
You can only transfer a company from one Workspace to another one if LinkedIn accounts connected to that company have no active seats (subscriptions) at the moment.
Whenever you click on the Transfer button, a pop-up window will appear and inform you about the active seats connected to some of the LinkedIn accounts under the company.
You'll have an option to Cancel this action, or click on the Disconnect from the subscription & continue button.
If you click on the Disconnect from the subscription & continue button the system will disconnect LinkedIn accounts from the active seats (they won't be active anymore) and you'll be able to select one of the workspaces to move the company, and all LinkedIn accounts under the company to.
Once you click on the transfer button, the company will be transferred to the selected workspace.
To make the LinkedIn accounts active again, you will have to add the active seats for them under the workspace that the company was transferred to.
Company transfer use cases
Can I transfer only specific/selected LinkedIn account(s) to another workspace using the company transfer feature?
Using the company transfer feature it is not possible to select what LinkedIn accounts under the company should be transferred with it and which ones would stay under the current workspace and a company created there.
If you are transferring the company, all LinkedIn accounts under the company will be transferred as well.
However, there's a workaround for this.
In this case, if you wish only specific/selected LinkedIn accounts to be transferred to a different workspace, you could create a new company for those LinkedIn accounts, switch their current company to a new one, so they'd be moved/added to another company under the workspace.
Once the above is done, you could then transfer that new company created to a different workspace, with only the LinkedIn accounts that you wish to be transferred.
