If you find yourself on this page, it's likely because you've attempted to access a policy created prior to January 19, 2024. Before this date, the Cost-Effectiveness Explorer supported new construction policies with compliance margins based on the EDR2 efficiency margin. However, following the Berkeley ruling, the Statewide Reach Codes Team has updated their recommendations for new construction reach codes. They now recommend using a single EDR1 compliance margin for both fuel types.
To align the Cost-Effectiveness Explorer with this guidance, we have preserved your existing policies using the EDR2 efficiency margin. While you can still review these policies, please note that editing and creating new policies with that margin is no longer supported.
If you are interested in creating a policy using the EDR1 margin, you can create a new policy from Policy Options. You may notice that many of the previous policy templates are no longer available, as those were based on the EDR2 efficiency margin. We are currently developing a new High-Performance Policy Option that will automatically configure an EDR1 policy with a single compliance margin for both fuel types. In the interim, you can manually set up a similar policy.
To set up a similar policy manually, follow these steps from Policy Options:
Select a “Build Your Own” policy for new construction.
Review which building types you’re interested in, name your policy, and click “Create a policy”.
Set the compliance margin for each fuel type as close to one another as possible. Please note that the compliance margin options are currently tied to packages provided in the cost-effectiveness studies and may not be a perfect match. Exact matching compliance margins will be enabled soon.
