Frequently Asked Questions

What's the Timeline Dates feature, and where are Timeline Dates used?

Our Timeline Dates feature is a great way for you to keep track of the dates that are important to your business. These dates are used for dashboard visualizations, dashboard downloads, and reporting purposes.

The date that is most important is your Client Launched Date. This will be used to calculate all "All Time" date ranges. If your Client Launched Date is not defined, your Client Created Date will be used.

What's my Client Created Date and how is it set?

When your account is created within My.Extole, you'll be given a Client Created Date. This date cannot be changed.

What's my Client Launched Date and how is it set?

Once you launch your first program with Extole, you'll get a Client Launched Date. If this date is not set for your account, you can manually set it:

  1. Navigate to your "Settings" page

  2. In the "Account" section, find the Timeline Dates table:

  4. Name your date "Client Launched", choose your launch date, and click "Save"

Again, all of the "All Time" options across the My.Extole platform will default to your Client Launched Date. If that date is not available and you do not set it using the steps above, the "All Time" options will fall back to your Client Created Date.

What other dates can I set, and where do they appear?

You can set any kind of date you want! There are two different "levels" of timeline dates: account-level, and program/campaign-level.

Account-Level Timeline Dates

Account-level dates are great for tracking changes to your business as a whole. For example, maybe you redid your website on January 1st, 2020. You can create a timeline date of "Website Redo" for 1/1/20. If you do not select any program or campaign dashboards where you'd like this date to show up, it will only show up in the Date and Time Range dropdowns when using our "Reports" tool. This makes it easy for you to measure the performance of your program(s) from a specific date that is important to your business.

Timeline Dates at the Program and Campaign Level

An account-level date is great for measuring performance across your programs, but let's say you want to call out when you launched a test for a specific program, or when you updated copy for a specific campaign. Simply select which program and campaign dashboards you'd like the date to appear on by using the checkboxes below the description field when creating your timeline date. The date will appear on the dashboards you select as well as in our "Reports" tool in the Date and Time Range dropdowns.

You can also view and add program- or campaign-specific timeline dates from your program or campaign dashboards:
