Overview
Get your consumers to share products with their networks that they want to be gifted!
Drop a Hint programs can be great for new product launches, big-ticket items, and can even act as substitutes for registries and wish lists. Launching a Drop a Hint program may lead to a lower return rate of your products (as people will be gifting products they know their friends and family members already love!) and a higher conversion rate than your typical site traffic.
Drop a Hint programs are successful both on- and off-season, can give you a pulse on the products your consumers are sharing but not necessarily purchasing, and are especially interesting when used for specialty (e.g. new, expensive, or even gender-specific) products.
Assets
Here's the info your creative team will need in order to use a Drop a Hint program to capitalize on forms of advocacy outside of referrals:
Share Experience: How the advocate shares the product that they want with a friend. All product metadata is read using Facebook OpenGraph tags.
Product image size: 216 x 216px – OG tags will pull in the product image where the "Follow my link and get a reward" images are shown below.
OG tags will pull in the product title where "Men's Shoes" is shown below.
You can configure up to two product labels, which can be used for things like "Size" and "Color". These will not be pulled in from the product page – the user will have to specify them.
Share Email: The email the friend receives when an advocate shares a product with them.
Friend Landing Experience: Where the friend will land / what they'll see when they click on the "Shop Now" link in their share email.
Product Page: The CTA that will show on product pages, enabling advocates to ask for a product from their friends.
