Why does Extra exist?

Today, over 100 million Americans don't want or can't get a credit card. Yet, there are very few alternatives for building your credit in a simple and reliable way. Our mission is to make credit building safer, smarter, and more accessible for everyone. Extra is the first debit card that builds your credit and earns rewards points.

How does Extra work exactly?

  1. Sign up by connecting your bank* account, and we give you a spending limit (Spend Power) based on your bank balance and other factors with no credit check.

  2. When you swipe your Extra Card, we spot you for that purchase and pay ourselves back the next business day.

  3. At the end of the month, we add up all of your purchases and report them to the credit bureaus as credit-worthy payments.

    And there you have it, debit that builds credit!

What is required to sign up for Extra?

You must be:

  • 18 years of age, or older

  • You must have an SSN or ITIN number

  • A US address where you can receive your Extra Card (P.O. boxes are not valid)

  • A US based bank account

How does Extra compare to a Secured Credit Card?

Secured Credit Card:

• Requires you to deposit your line upfront ($$$)
• Credit check

• No reward points
• Charges up to 17% interest
• Limited credit score impact because you are fronting your own line.

What makes Extra different than other debit cards?

Most debit cards don’t offer rewards everywhere you swipe and have no ability to build or establish credit. Extra is the first debit card that lets you earn both in real-time. We give you the best parts of a credit card while spending the money that you actually have. Big banks don't do this with their debit cards because they want to up-sell you into a credit card, making them more money.

Is there a hard inquiry made when applying for the Extra Card?

No, Extra does not check your credit during the application process.

Where can I use my Extra Card?

Your Extra Card can be used anywhere Mastercard is accepted in the United States.

Can I use my Extra Card while traveling outside of the United States?

We are unable to support international transactions at this time. We are researching additional means of providing this service and will update if and when the same are cleared.



How am I being protected with Extra?

Think of Extra as an added layer of security; we handle disputes and fraud cases internally, so no need to get your bank involved.

Do you offer fraud alerts?

We send you a real-time notification for every purchase made with your extra card. Notified about a purchase that you didn't make? Reach out to Member Concierge as soon as possible.

Are you FDIC insured?

Only banks are FDIC insured. Therefore, we are not eligible for FDIC insurance. However, our banking partner, Evolve Bank and Trust, is FDIC insured.


What is Extra's Refund Policy?

If I cancel my membership, will I get a refund of my membership fee?


You have the right to cancel your membership with us at any time. If you cancel within 60 days of your first billing date, you will receive a full refund of your membership fee.

Any cancellation requests submitted after 60 days of your first billing date are not eligible for a full refund of membership fees. Please contact Member Concierge for assistance with your refund request.


What if I do not want to renew my annual membership, what are my options?

That is a great question!

If you do not want to renew your membership, please contact Member Concierge at least 7 days in advance of your membership renewal date.

If you do not contact us in time and your membership is automatically renewed, you have 14 days to contact us to cancel and receive a full refund.
