4 ways to send connection requests on Threads.

If someone you know is already on Threads, connecting with them is simple. You can request to connect by sending them a Moment, Check-In, Thread Starter, or directly from the “My People” screen in the app.

Connect by sending a Moment or Check-In

When you send a Moment or Check-In to someone who is already on the app, they’ll receive a connection request from you on their chat screen. Once they accept this request, they’ll see your Moment or Check-In and you will be able to chat with them.

Here’s how to do this:

  1. Tap the middle button (Threads logo) on the main navigation and click send update.

  2. Creat your Moment or Check-In.

  3. Allow access to your contacts* so you can search for the people you’d like to connect with.

  4. Select the people you’d like to send your Moment or Check-In to (they can be on the app or not).

    1. People who are already on the app will display a Threads icon on their avatar.

  5. Tap the send button in the top right corner.

Connect from the “My People” screen

Requesting to connect from the “My People” screen can be done in one tap.

Here’s how to do this:

  1. Tap the people icon in the bottom right corner of the main navigation.

  2. Allow access to your contacts* so you can search for the people you’d like to connect with.

  3. Tap any person from your contacts list.

    1. People who are already on the app will display a blue ring around them.

  4. When the + icon changes to a checkmark, the connection request has been sent!

What if I don’t have someone’s phone number in my contacts? More on that here.
