Audit scores are based on the weighted result of an audit. Each select -type question in an audit can be scored to provide points, which together form a total audit score. Each section within the audit is also given its own section score, which can be viewed from the PDF report.

Score formula

If a question is answered as Not applicable, the question is discounted from the maximum possible points, effectively removing the question from the audit score formula.

If there are questions that always yield points, f.e. when the "worst" answer choice still provides more points than zero, these minimum possible points are taken into consideration in the formula. This is done by subtracting the minimum possible points from the total points and from the maximum possible points.

It is also possible to set answer choice points to give negative points. However, negative total points in an audit will be interpreted as a zero in the audit scoring.

Audit scoring

By default, the audit score is set from 0 - 100, where the audit score is always shown as an integer, meaning that it in practice refers to a percentage.

Example 1

An audit has 20 questions, all worth 1 point, 0,5 points, 0 points, or N/A. Thus 20 is the maximum possible points and 0 is the minimum. An audit is conducted resulting in 17,5 points, and one question worth 1 point is answered N/A.

The resulting score is calculated as follows: [(17,5 / 19) x 100] = 92

Custom audit scoring

You may edit the scoring to better suit your needs. In the Audit template settings (Administration --> Audit template --> select the template to manage --> Settings) you can edit the score range and precision.

As an example, you can set the scale from 1 - 5, with a precision of 2 decimals. The points are converted into the scale of your choice.

Example 2

An audit has 20 questions, all worth 1 point, 0,5 points, 0 points, or N/A. Thus 20 is the maximum possible points and 0 is the minimum. An audit is conducted resulting in 17,5 points, and one question worth 1 point is answered N/A.

The scale is set from 1 (worst) to 5 (best), with 2 decimals precision.

The resulting score is calculated as follows: [(17,5 / 19) x (5 - 1)] + 1 = 4,68

Example 3

An audit has 20 questions worth 1 point, 0,5 points, 0 points, or N/A and one question worth 3 points, 2 points or 1 point. Thus 23 is the maximum possible points and 1 is the minimum. An audit is conducted resulting in 20,5 points.

The scale is set from 1 (worst) to 5 (best), with 2 decimals precision.

The resulting score is calculated as follows: { [ (20,5 - 1) / (23 - 1) ] x (5 - 1) } + 1 = 4,54

Applying grades

In the audit template settings page, below score settings, you may attach grades to the scores. The grades are assigned a name and a colour, ranging from worst to best in descending order. The colours are automatically assigned from red (worst) to green (best), with varying shades of yellow in between. The default setting, which applies to the the 0 - 100 scale, is set as follows:

  • 0 - 70 Bad

  • 70 - 85 Moderate

  • 85 - 100 Good

Note: The border value gives the higher grade. In this example 70 points = Moderate and 85 points = Good.

There has to be at least two grades, but it is possible to add as many as needed beyond that. It is possible to modify the grade scales however you like, as long as the entire score range has a grade assigned to it.

If you apply changes to the score range, you need to update the grade scale accordingly.
