When adding a new question you will need to define what type of a question it is. Falcony supports seven question types: Select questions, Free text questions, Signatures, Date, Time, Date & time and Number.

This article focuses on Select questions. You can find information on other question types here.

All questions should be given a title, and if needed it is possible to add a help text. Help texts are typically used to further explain to the auditor how they should answer, either by using examples or providing some further details that wouldn't fit nicely into the question title. The help text section supports markdown formatting, and it is possible to add image files to the help text by dragging & dropping them into the text box.

All questions can also be set to Required and Show answer in audit card, regardless of question type.

  • A Required question must be answered in order for the auditor to complete the audit. If a question is not required, the auditor can leave the question unanswered if needed, and still be able to complete the audit.

  • Show answer in audit card means that the question and its answer will be visible directly on the completed audits page, without needing to open up the completed audit to view it. This can be useful for some basic information, such as customer name, address, etc.

Select type questions

Select questions allow the auditor to select one answer of the options provided. There has to be a minimum of two choices, but it is possible to add any number of choices beyond that.

Scored questions

Select questions can be scored, allowing you to assign a value to a given answer. This will in turn then reflect the grade and total audit score. The question points in scored questions are by default set to 1 for the best answer and 0 for the worst answer, with additional answers distributed points evenly between the two. The answers are also coloured from green to red, with different shades of yellow in between.

All scored questions should have their answer choices ranked from best to worst, descending from the top to bottom.

Scored questions affect the resulting audit score. More on that subject here.

Custom scoring

It is possible to assign custom scoring to the question, allowing you to set the point yields however you like. You can add additional weight to a question by raising its maximum points from 1 to any number you like, or add several options providing the same points, or even set an answer choice to provide negative points.

N/A

Answers may also be set as Not Applicable (N/A). When a N/A choice is answered, the question score is discounted from the audit total score, as if the question didn't exist in the audit at all. This means that the total maximum points from the audit is lowered by the amount of points provided by the question.

Not applicable answers should always be placed on the bottom of the list, below the points yielding answer choices, and will have a gray colour scheme. It is possible to add several N/A answer choices to a question.
