About Weather Stations

Weather Stations provide essential information that influence key farming decisions from crop spraying to pasture management. Farmbot partners with Weather Station providers like Davis Instruments and Spectrum Technologies to display rich, down-to-the-hour weather data directly through the MyFarmbot platform.

The Benefits of Seeing Your Weather Station on MyFarmbot

The main way to integrate your Weather Station into MyFarmbot is through a direct integration using the Davis Interface Kit provided by Farmbot in your purchase.

Once integrated, you can:

  • Capture and store localised weather data

  • Track trends and patterns over time

  • Receive alerts about key weather events to your phone - for you and your team

By combining weather data with your Farmbot-monitored infrastructure, you can make more informed decisions on the ground.

Examples of how farmers use weather data:

Example 1: Confirm that consistently high temperatures, low rainfall and low tank levels justify trucking water in sooner.

Example 2: Use historical data — like wind speed, Evapotranspiration, Delta-T and rainfall to assess spray drift, spray effectiveness and crop performance.

Example 3: Identify changing rainfall patterns across your land to guide decisions around adjusting paddock boundaries

Please check the Set Up Guide for more information on supported models and how to integrate them.

View Weather Station Data from the MyFarmbot Platform

See your Weather Stations alongside your other monitored farm assets and have more context around your infrastructure:

  • The map flag will change colour depending whether there is an active alert that hasn't been acknowledged.

Make quick decisions using the Dashboard on MyFarmbot that show the latest weather via Mini Graphs:

  • Each summary card displays the latest data received for a different sensor. The example below shows the most recent Temperature recorded is 24°C and the Dewpoint is 19°C.

  • See the most recent data as well as an additional six hours of historical data to track patterns and trends.

  • Click into any card to view the sensor in more detail on the interactive graph.

On Desktop, the dashboard display shows all available sensors connected to your Weather Station in one place.

Detailed interactive graphs show trends, allowing you to predict short to long term weather patterns:

  • The most important sensor data shown in the Summary Bar. The example below shows the current Barometric Pressure, as well as the lowest and highest pressure for the past 24 hours.

  • The interactive graph visualises historical data and lets you scroll back or zoom in/out to see trends over weeks or years.

Be alerted to localised weather events such as extreme temperatures or low barometric pressure which can indicate an impending storm:

  • Set alert thresholds for weather data that matters most to you.

  • Receive alerts via Text/Email/In-Platform.

  • Choose who receives notifications for which weather stations.
