How to record and report BVD tests and results

Recording BVD test results

  1. Go to Herd Manager > Batch Manager and use one of the available methods to select a batch animals that have either all tested positive or  all negative (as required)

  2. Click the “Record Event” button

  3. On the following screen, click the “Batch Vet” button

  4. Select “PositiveBVD” (or “NegativeBVD”) from the “Non-medical activity” drop down list (the medicine details above will be ignored) 

  5. If BVD tests have not previously been recorded, select “Other, enter value >” from the “Treatment Reason” drop down list and enter “BVD Test” (or similar wording) into the text box to the right; otherwise, select “BVD Test” directly from the drop down list

  6. Select the required Date and complete any of the optional details
    Click “Add Entry” to save the event against each animal in the defined batch

BVD report options

Animals tested “positive”
This will include the identity number of the Dam:

  1. Go to Reports > Easy Report (Navigator)Select “Herd Health” from the first drop down list

  2. A second drop down list will display. Select “Animals positive for BVD”  

  3. Click the “Run Report” button to generate the report 

All test results (positive and negative)

  1. Go to Reports > Rule Reports > Treatment

  2. Tick the required column check boxes

  3. Enter “BVD” in the Treatment Reason text box (this requires a “BVD” treatment reason to have previously been saved on the Batch Vet screen). This will search for all references to
    BVD e.g. “BVD Test”, “BVD Result”

  4. Click the “List Treatments” button to generate the report

View individual animal

  1. Go to Herd Manager > List Herd

  2. Search for the required animal

  3. The BVD test record will display within the Treatment History section to the right of the page (scroll down)
