The Batch Manager enables you to quickly record a treatment against multiple animal tags. This is especially useful for routine preventative treatments for a number of animal; for example routine vaccinations and drenching.

To record a batch treatment, you must have first added the required medicine as a stock item

How to add a medicine treatment or veterinary action

First define the animals that you want to record the treatment or vet action for

  1. Go to the Herd Manager main menu and click on Batch Manager

  2. Define the list of animals to be sold by typing in a list of animal IDs, applying a filter or selecting from the list box

  3. Click the Record Event button and then the Batch Vet button

  1. Select the veterinary action type from "non-medical activity" drop down list

  2. Select the name of the person carrying out the action from the drop down list or select "Other, enter value >" to enter a new person

  3. Select the treatment reason from the drop down list or select "Other, enter value >" to enter a new reason

  4. Select the date the treatment was administered and the date it was finished (for non-medicine actions, these dates may be the same)

  5. Enter any general notes or for 7 day follow up

To record a medicine treatment

If more than one stock item will be required due to a large number of animals being treated, tick the "spread treatment across multiple batches with the same name" box. FarmWizard will automatically draw the medicine stock required

Select the Quantity of medicine administered and select the medicine stock item used. The stock item drop down shows all stock items with the medicine name, batch number, expiry date and quantity remaining in stock

If a second medicine is being administered, complete the detail as above using the Additional Treatment drop down boxes

  1. Select the name of the person carrying out the action from the drop down list or select "Other, enter value >" to enter a new person

  2. Select the treatment reason from the drop down list or select "Other, enter value >" to enter a new reason

  3. Select the date the treatment was administered and the date it was finished

  4. Enter any general notes or for 7 day follow up

  5. Click Add Entry to save the record. In situations where a third of fourth medicine is administered, click Add Entry & Record Another

Whole herd treatments

If you need to record a treatment for the whole herd, you can select all the animals by defining a Filter, or you can select the animals from the main list box to the right of the screen.

To select all animals, click on the first tag in the list, and then holding down your left mouse button, drag downwards to highlight the remaining tags in the list.

Please note:  when recording a vet treatment, there is a limit of 400 animals.  If your herd is larger than this, then you will need to break the whole herd treatment down into batches of 400 (see screen shot below).  One approach in this situation is to select the first 400 tags in the main list box, (making a note of the last tag selected), then create and save the treatment, and then come back to the Batch Manger to define the next 400, and so on.

To record a veterinary action (no medicines used)
