This report is useful if you need to produce a historic animal report for your accountant at the end of the financial year, or to help complete an official government farm census form.

The accuracy of this report relies on the FarmWizard herd register being kept up to date with movements in and out of your registered holding.  To differentiate cows from heifers, you must also have recording birth (calving) events on FarmWizard.

The Bovine Herd Profile provides two report options:

  • a summary tally of animals categorized by age, sex and type

  • a herd list of individual tag numbers

Access the reporting screen from Reports > QA Reporting > Design Report

To produce the summary report

  1. Scroll down the Bovine Herd Profile section

  2. Enter the required historic date

  3. If required, amend the age categories by selecting from the drop-down listings

  4. Click the "Generate Report" button

The report grid will include columns for the selected age categories with the total for each column at the bottom of the report grid.

The report rows segment animals by Sex, Dairy Breeds, Beef Breeds, Lactating Females and Non Lactating Females.

To be included as a "Lactating Female", an animal must be have at least one Birth (calving) event recorded on the FarmWizard Breed Cycle Manager and have a Breed Stage (Lactation number) of 1 or higher.

You can check calving events for individual animals via the Herd Manager > List Herd screen (Birth events shown in the Breeding History section) or by running the Fertility Rule Report.

If you want to save or print this report grid, highlight all the rows and columns by clicking your mouse at the top left of the report grid and then holding down the left mouse button while dragging downwards and to the right.

Next, click your right mouse button and then left-click on "Copy" from the pop-up menu.  Use the "Paste Special" command in a word processor document or a new spreadsheet, and paste as "Text" or "Unformatted Text".
Tip: a spreadsheet is better as the columns and rows are properly preserved.

To produce a list of individual tag numbers on the historic date

Select the historic date and then click the button "List of stock in holding on date" to generate the list of tags.
