How much spending money should I bring?

Written by Team

There isn’t one set amount, as spending can vary quite a lot depending on the destination and how you like to travel. Most of the big costs are already covered, so your spending money will mainly go towards meals that aren’t included, drinks, optional activities, shopping, tips and anything else you choose to do during your free time.

We provide spending money guidance for each destination, so check the information for your trip first and then budget around your own travel style. As a starting point, we’d recommend having around £200 worth of local currency when you arrive. You can exchange this before travelling or once you land.

There’s no need to carry a large amount of cash for the entire trip. You’ll have access to ATMs throughout the trip and, although they generally charge a withdrawal fee, taking money out as you go is much safer than travelling around with large amounts of cash. As a general rule of thumb, we’d recommend prioritising cash and seeing card payments as a bonus where they’re available.
