The preservation solution in our kits has a shelf life of about 6 months, and you can find the expiration date of your specific vial by looking at the vial label just below the lot number. See examples of this below!
Has your vial expired?
If you've noticed that the expiration date has passed, or you see a warning during kit registration that your kit will expire soon, please do not move forward with collecting your sample just yet! (Just hold on to the rest of your kit as all of the other items will still be used once you receive your new vial.)
Expired Vial Prior to Registering
If your vial is expired, you should see a way to request a new vial on the home screen of your Fellow portal. There will be an orange button labeled "Request a Replacement" (see image below). Click the button and it will direct you to fill out a Replacement Component Request form. Please fill out and submit the form to request a replacement vial and/or container.
Expired Vial Alert When Registering
If your attempting to register your kit and our system detects that your vial is expired (or very near expiring), it will direct you to fill out a Replacement Component Request form. Please fill out and submit the form to request a replacement vial and/or container.
Expired After Registering
If you registered your kit ahead of time and your vial expired afterward, you likely won't see a way to request a new vial within your portal. You'll need to reach out to our Customer Success team in order to request a new vial.
Shipping Your Replacement Vial/Container π
After you've completed your Replacement Request form our Fulfillment Team will start working on your request. You can dispose of your expired vial at this point. Our preservation solution is non-toxic, so it can go out with your everyday garbage.
You should also receive an email from notifications@meetfellow.com with tracking information within 1-2 business days.
